The Mediterranean adventure day twenty-five: Sorrento

Read about our last day in Italy, checking out the lemon groves of Sorrento!

Our last day! The month has sure flown by. We had a lie in, had breakfast and then checked out. The hotel let us keep us suitcases behind at reception so we were bag free for the day.

We got the train into central Sorrento and spent the day pottering around, looking at the pretty shops and enjoying the view out to sea. I looked down with a lot of jealousy at the people on the beach, swimming in the beautiful clear water. Adam picked up a couple of things at the shops, he found two blazers reduced from 60 euros to just 10. He was very pleased with his bargains.

In the centre of the town was a lemon grove that you could freely walk through. It was very picturesque and there were limoncello tastings happening at the shop within. Very Italian.

We stopped at a little bar called 'Meeting' which was one of our cheapest meals yet. We both had arancini balls to start then Adam had a calzone whilst I got a Napoli roll. To finish we had ice cream and pastries. We washed it all down with wine, coke and water. And the price? 14 EUROS!!! Everything was really delicious too.

I really liked Sorrento, I think whereas some places we visited on the trip were very much 'sightseeing' destinations Sorrento would be a lovely place to chill for a few days. It was 30 degrees and we just wanted to relax by the swimming pool.

We returned back to the hostel and chilled in their courtyard with some drinks from the bar whilst we waited for our private car to take us to the airport. We reflected on what had been a really wonderful holiday and already thinking when we could next go away!

At the airport we had a bit of time to spare before we caught our flight so we had a nice dinner at the San Gregorio restaurant. I had risotto and Adam had a burger. We then got some pastries from the Vincenzo Bellavia shop. We boarded our flight happy and stuffed!
